Metropolis is an architectural concentric sculpture made from pieces recycled from industry. It uses various stainless steel pieces, bronze symbols, a part of a CAT scanner, a silver stainless steel ball, which is heat torched at the top, and a bronze spiral.
This multi-media piece is quite sculptural. It also has a spinning top which revolves the spiral around the circular top. It is based on the German expressionist sci-fi ‘Metropolis’ from 1927 by Fritz Lang and it’s futuristic robot-like architecture.
The installation of Metropolis is tabs on a base plate. This piece may be best to be installed inside, somewhere without a wind loading.
