Moon Safari
Moon Safari was created from an aluminium sheet which found itself tumbled into the sea. This has just been recovered from Shenick Island in the Irish Sea, as part of a clean up effort. By doctoring and enhancing the surface qualities the extent of erosion of the metal can be appreciated.
A lit yellow sheet of acrylic has been added as backdrop. It shows the trauma of life at sea and how material gets eroded, tumbled and stressed. The wooden base keeps the piece vertical.
Size in cm: 44 x 48 x 25
Materials: Corroded aluminium sheet, block of drift wood, yellow acrylic sheet.
